According to the Global Compact, companies, depending on their sector and business model, are committed to identifying what objectives and goals they can begin to carry out activities and operations that contribute to sustainable development locally and internationally.

The commitment to the Creation of Shared Value reached the Global Compact in Mexico since 2018, and to continue reaffirming this commitment, in recent days it signed its membership again with this organization, a space that served the company to publicize its progress through its business strategy called Creating Shared Value .
Nestlé Shared Value is a strategy that focuses on three main pillars: people and families, communities and planet. Below we present some of the advances that the company has had during three years (2016 to 2019), in these three pillars.
1. People and family
Nestlé has products that provide nutrition for thousands of Mexicans. In the three years of action, the brand added 12 million servings of fruits and vegetables in children's product brands.
On the other hand, they invested 280 million pesos in research for product innovation and renewal, with the purpose of understanding the needs of consumers, from the smallest to the largest.
In terms of child well-being, thanks to the Nestlé for Healthy Children initiative , the company impacted 2.3 million children in more than 6,000 schools throughout the country and one million parents. By 2020, the company plans to increase the number to 5 million Mexican children.
2. Communities
In terms of community, the company has been concerned about the education of young people through the Youth Initiative , this program is responsible for providing them with vocational guidance and workshops to promote employability. With it, more than 400 thousand young Mexicans have been impacted.
They have also invested 300 million pesos in responsible supply programs for coffee, cocoa, milk and corn. To date, the company has trained more than 4,000 farmers, milk producers and transporters with the initiatives: Plan Nescafé, Cocoa Plan, Plan Corn for Mexico and Nestlé Dairy Commitment.
3. Planet
Regarding the care of the planet, the company has invested 470 million pesos to reduce the environmental impact in its operations, through a thousand solar panels at the end of 2018. And they have reduced the water produced by each ton in their factories by 38% .
It also has a large product portfolio, where 98% of its packaging is recyclable.
In addition to this, Nestlé announced that Nestlé Waters' Sta. María factory became the first plant in Mexico to obtain certification from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard , due to the strict controls and care in the management of the water within its operation and for the benefit of the community in which it operates.
